Help Employees Have a Better Online Retirement Experience
When you encourage your employees to submit their benefit application to TCDRS online, you can be confident they are using the safest, most efficient way to get their information directly to TCDRS.
The online application walks them through every step of the process, from selecting a benefit payment option to securely providing their banking information. Retiring employees can also select their tax withholding within the application and immediately see how it affects their monthly payment.
Applying online also streamlines processing because every step must be completed before it is submitted, removing the need for TCDRS to decipher handwriting or contact employees for missing paperwork.
Planning is key
Some of the decisions your employees make about their retirement options cannot be changed after they retire, so it’s important they give themselves plenty of time to plan. A great place to start is our new Eligible Members web page. There, your retirement-eligible employees will see the steps that can help them create a successful retirement.
Encourage your employees to run benefit estimates and have a retirement date and benefit payment option in mind before they start their application.
When they’re ready, your employees can find the application by signing into their online TCDRS account and clicking “Apply for Retirement”. Once complete, they can track their application status right from their Account Summary page.
What you can do
Though you can’t submit an online benefit application for your employees, you can help them. The employee just needs to be directly signed into their TCDRS account to access it.
Remember, no retirement can happen without you. Be sure to submit the last date of employment for every retiring employee as soon as you know it so we can process their application. You can see a list of employees who have applied for retirement and may need a last date of employment on your New Retirements report when you sign in as an employer at TCDRS.org. We will also reach out to you if the date is missing.
