Texas Governor Greg Abbott Appoints CTRMA Executive Director James M. Bass to TCDRS Board of Trustees

Governor Greg Abbott appointed James M. Bass to fill a board term that expires on Dec. 31, 2025.

Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS) welcomes the appointment of James M. Bass, Executive Director of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA), to its Board of Trustees. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Mr. Bass to fill a board term that extends through Dec. 31, 2025. Mr. Bass brings decades of leadership experience to the board, which oversees retirement benefits for nearly 380,000 TCDRS members and retirees.

Prior to leading the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, Mr. Bass served as Executive Director of the Texas Department of Transportation (appointed in 2016). Before his appointment as Executive Director, Mr. Bass served as TxDOT’s Chief Financial Officer. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.

As a member of the TCDRS Board of Trustees, Mr. Bass will contribute to the board’s oversight of system operations, including the annual budget, policy determination, legislative proposals and investment policy to ensure the financial security of TCDRS members and retirees.
